The company Sollers plans to open an assembling plant in Vietnam, which will assemble SUVs and commercial models UAZ. The first cars of local Assembly may appear in 2018.
“Sollers”, which, in particular, belongs the Ulyanovsk automobile plant, wants to open an assembling plant in Vietnam. They plan to collect SUVs and commercial Oise.
Currently the company is waiting for approval of the business plan from the authorities of Vietnam. “Ministry of industry of Vietnam is considering our business plan. So as soon as we receive a positive decision, then we will go the first stage related to the use of quotas on imports of cars”, — said the head of Sollers and UAZ General Director Vadim Shvetsov, the Agency “Interfax” at the exhibition “Innoprom-2017”.
According to him, the intergovernmental agreement provides for the phased implementation of the project with the gradual localization and industrial Assembly. Shvetsov added that at the initial stage, UAZ plans to export to Vietnam, finished products, and then move on to industrial Assembly in place.
UAZ is planning to launch the Assembly of cars in Vietnam in 2018, but everything rests in the absence of approval from the government of this country. As soon as it is received, the plant immediately “begin to move in this direction.”
But a full-scale production of cars UAZ in Vietnam to speak while early: the head of Sollers said that the first UAZ needs to capture share in the local market, and then to develop the industry in this country.
Recall that the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and Vietnam was signed in 2015. It is, in particular, involves the organization in Vietnam SKD Assembly of cars UAZ.
